Problem Note 58942: SAS® Enterprise Guide® performance issues occur when you open multiple programs in a single session
You might experience extreme delays if you have multiple program nodes running within a single session of SAS Enterprise Guide.
Having multiple programs or multiple larger programs open at the same time might cause SAS Enterprise Guide to allocate an editor session to each program. As a result, memory continues to grow on the system and might cause significant delays in the performance of the SAS Enterprise Guide editor. The circumstances are not exact. For example, you might experience the delay if you have three very large programs open or ten somewhat smaller files.
Current Workaround
When you are finished viewing or working on a program, click the x to close the program explicitly rather than switching
immediately to another program or the process flow.
Explicitly closing the program should reduce the Enhanced editor's resource consumption, whereas switching to another program without explicitly closing might leave the editor's resources in memory.
This is a temporary workaround until a hot fix or new release of SAS Enterprise Guide becomes available.
